Her company has changed the way media and advertising speaks to and represents women and reaches a devoted audience of 425 million globally with diverse, original content, storytelling, and experiences. Refinery29 has won countless awards for their unique approach and work championing women, including spots on both Inc. 500 and Fast Company's lists of most innovative companies. She is consistently motivated by her brand’s mission: To be a catalyst for women to claim their power and reach their infinite potential. 

MAGICIAN Always scheming, dreaming, and building, one of Piera’s most beloved creations is Refinery29’s 29Rooms, the ground-breaking interactive exhibition. In 4 years, 29Rooms has become a cultural touchpoint that’s welcomed over 100,000 visitors in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, reached 1 in 2 people on Instagram, and partnered with visionary creators like Janelle Monáe Petra Collins, Shantell Martin, Cleo Wade, and Nina Chanel Abney. 29Rooms has generated billions of press impressions, been featured on the cover of the New York Times’ Arts section, and awarded a CLIO Award for Best Live Event.

CREATIVE LEADER & SPEAKER As creative leader, Piera was recently honored as one of Ad Age's 50 Most Creative People of the year, Entrepreneur magazine’s 50 Most Daring Entrepreneurs, and was featured in Adweek as one of the 37 Women Who Are Disrupting the Status Quo and Championing Gender Diversity. She is a frequent public speaker, keynoting events like SxSW, INBOUND, Creative Mornings, and The Next Web, motivating audiences to recognize their own potential. WOMAN OF ACTION Committed to walking the walk, she has lead artistic collaborations with numerous non-profits including Planned Parenthood, the Women’s March, GLAAD, and She Should Run, bringing awareness to their important work while simultaneously driving fundraising and tangible results. In 2017, the Lower Eastside Girls Club named her a Woman of Action. She now serves on their board, aiming to set girls up for success with well-rounded education and access to creative expression, activism, and mentorship. 

ZESTFUL LIFE-LIVER When she is not burning the midnight oil at Refinery29 or the Girls Club, Piera is busy exploring the world, gallery hopping, crafting elaborate costumes, and hosting collage nights at her Brooklyn apartment. She wants to live her life as vividly as possible, closing down as many dance floors as she can before her final call.
